Glentoran 0 Coleraine 0
Ten-man Glentoran will be happy with a point from today's game at the Oval.Mark Clarke was sent off by referee Raymond Crangle for a diving tackle on Ruairi Harkin in the 37th minute.
The red card could not be argued.It is said that it is difficult to play against ten men and this proved to be correct.
The Glens actually had the ball in the net in the second half, but Andy Waterworth was adjudged to have been offside before he put the ball past Gavin Cullen in the Bannsiders goal.With Cliftonville beating the blues they go top of the league tonight and the Glens drop down to third, but only a point behind.

Despite being reduced to ten men following the sending-off of Barry Holland in the 14th minute Cliftonville held the Glens to a 1-1 draw at Solitude yesterday.
Holland had been sent off by referee Raymond Crangle after hauling down Andy Waterworth as the much improved Glens striker made up two yards on the defender, passed him and honed in on goal. Andy would surely have scored and the red card was the correct decision.
Instead of capitalising on the advantage the Glens went a goal down seven minutes later when Devlin's long kick out hit Joe Gormley on the back and, luckily for him, perfectly for him to loop the ball over Elliott Morris and into the net.
The Glens had long periods of possession, but couldn't turn it into goals until the 69th minute when the ball fell for Stephen Carson to score from about ten yards after Colin Nixon and keeper Devlin collided.
The game saw a total of nine yellow cards as well as Holland's dismissal. A dirty game I hear you say. Certainly not. I cannot remember a bad foul. Raymond Crangle seemed to produce the card at every opportune moment. Pity we can't ask him for his thoughts.

We have just heard the very sad news of the passing of Alan McDonald. The TMen found Alan to be a very friendly man who took time to talk to us and was very thankful of what we did for the club. We are shocked by the news. Our condolences go to his family circle at this sad time. RIP ALAN McDONALD, you will be sadly missed.

Members of the Ballymac and 1st East Belfast Gsc would like to thank Kelvin Grossan and Cliftonville Fc for the invite at the match day lunch held in the Cliftonville bowling club before our match on Sat. In the photograph both chairmen Mr. T Sewell and Mr. G Sewell presented gifts to Cliftonville on behalf of both clubs. All 26 members had a good day out and hope we can return this next season when you come to the oval in our own clubrooms in Wilgar Street. A good day was had by all, bar the outcome the match.

After yesterday's abysmal performance by the Glens the Tmen made their way a couple of hundred yards down the road to the Titanic Light Show at the new Titanic Belfast building.
The comparison between the two events could not have been more different. The team behind the Light Show had passion for their art, each one of them knew what they had to do and they had a plan on how to achieve it. Compare that against the Glens fifth defeat in the last six games. The side was unorganised, lacked shape and quite a few of the players didn't seem to care.
The Crues thoroughly deserved the victory which could have been more decisive. David Rainey's three goals in the 3rd, 45th and 64th minutes included two chip shots which Rory McIlroy would have been proud of. Caddell's strike to make the score 2-0 after only nine minutes effectively ended the game the contest.
More worrying is perhaps the horrific injury to David Howland. He had only been on the pitch as a half-time substitute for 17 minutes when he collided with Calum Birney just outside the Glens penalty area. David suffered eye socket, cheek and jaw injuries. All supporters hope he recovers soon and isn't in any pain.
Where to now Glens? Can we win another game this season? I doubt it.

TWO thumping headers by Allan Jenkins beat the Glens at the Oval this afternoon. Anger disappointing performance from a home side that lacks confidence and, to be honest, skill and passion.
The goals came in the 65th and 68th minutes. The first came from a James Costello cross from the left and Jenkins powered home his header from about five yards. The second came from a Rory Carson corner from the left and the big striker again hit the net from inside the six-yard box.
The Glens huffed and puffed, but didn't look like scoring and it came as a surprise when Eamonn Murray hit a great shot from 25 yards only for to it hit the keeper’s left hand post. The ball rebounded to Richard Gibson who was standing on his own and he was able to tap in for a consolation goal. That came in the 90th minute and Ballymena were able to hold on for three deserved points.
Was there anything positive in this Glentoran performance? Sadly no. This is perhaps the worst Glentoran side I have seen in watching sides for about 50 years. I said before I cannot see them winning again this season and today's performance only underlines that. The manager has an unenviable task ahead of him. There will be a lot of players leaving at the end of the season. I have no doubt about that, but the players he brings in will need to be better than what we've currently got. Where does Eddie get them? I hope he knows.

A wonder goal by Sean Ward wasn't enough to help the Glens through to the semi-finals of the Setanta Cup at the Oval tonight. An added time penalty converted by Danny North put the Sligo men on a 3-1 aggregate score line.
Sean's strike came in the 21st minute of the Glens best game since Eddie Patterson took charge. Standing in as captain in the absence of the suspended Colin Nixon, he won the ball in a hard tackle ten yards inside the Sligo half. He drove forward, beat three men and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. Definitely a contender for the goal of the season. Let's hope television coverage isn't restricted to the sponsor’s channel. The goal deserves much wider showing.
This was a game of very few chances. Indeed the Glens only had one other effort on goal which was a shot by Stephen Carson which was deflected for a corner. With the exception of the penalty Sligo only troubled Aaron Hogg on one other occasion.
Apart from Wardy's goal the other talking point of the game was the eighteen minute delay in the second half when the floodlights failed in the 71st minute.
The Setanta Cup dream is over for another season, but the team needs to build on the performance and pick up three points in the penultimate home game of the season against Ballymena United on Saturday. Several players are playing for their future at the club therefore we expect a further improvement in performances between now and the end of April. Let's see.

Crusaders 2 Glentoran 0, Voting open for man of the match [ here ]
Another defeat for a disappointing Glentoran side today at Seaview. This is starting to become a habit and as I said in my Glenavon report last week it is difficult to see the team winning again this season.
This is a very damning comment to make, but the truth is we are playing what amounts to relegation style football at the minute.
Thankfully we credited enough points earlier in the season under Scott Young's reign to ensure premiership football next season, but let's not fool ourselves; Eddie Patterson has some job in his hands.
A first half where the Crues should have scored three or four goals ended scoreless instead. A disallowed Leon Knight goal and a Stephen Carson header was all we had to offer in the first 45 minutes. In the 58th minute a foul by Richard Clarke led to the first goal when from the resultant free kick Chris Morrow headed across the six yard box and into the net past Elliott Morris.
The second goal came from a mix up between Morris and Calum Birney which let ex-Glenman David Rainey chip into an empty goal from just inside the area.
Next up is Sligo in the Setanta Cup on Tuesday. The Glens support is dwindling fast. The Setanta is usually badly supported. Tuesday could be an embarrassment both on and off the field.

The Belfast Glens were caught cold just after the half-time break and a glancing header by Kyle Neill was enough to give the Lurgan Blues the three points.
Glenavon deserved this win today at Mourneview Park, but the problems which have beset our side this season appear to be growing. There was little or no heart, passion or belief in the performance. In fact I believe our new signing, Leon Knight, has publicly apologised for the team's performance.
There is nothing positive to write about the game from our perspective. Eddie Patterson certainly has his work cut out to make the Glens title challengers in the next couple of seasons. Clearly there need to be some drastic changes to the playing squad. Too many are going through the motions knowing they will not be pulling in the shirt next season, but they must show they care for the paying customers and put in 100% effort. Sadly some aren't.
If anybody is reading this can you honestly see that side winning a game between now and the end of the season?

With new manager Eddie Patterson watching from the grandstand the Glens thought they had snatched victory when in the 90th minute Richard Gibson scored a sensational goal sending the ball into an empty net after the Coleraine goalkeeper, Gavin Cullen, had denied Andy Waterworth by sprinting out 25 yards to stop the Glens striker. His clearance broke to Gibbo just inside the Bannsiders half and he hit a beauty into the net.
The celebrations were still continuing however, when Kyle McVey hit the Glens crossbar and the ball rebounded for David Scullion to score his second of the day and claim a point which, in all honesty, they deserved.
Aaron Boyd had opened the scoring after only 9 minutes when he pounced on a rebound and scored from close range. Stephen Carson then replied for the Glens in 18th minute when he fired a low shot at Cullen and saw it go between the keeper's legs and into the net.
Scully restored the Coleraine lead on the half hour mark when he scored from five yards out.
Into the second half and great work on the right by Eamonn Murray saw him get to the goal line and he pulled the ball back for Carson to hammer into the roof of the net. Then came the hectic last three minutes and those two goals.
An entertaining game which marked the end of Roy Coyle's stewardship it was a pity we couldn't have held on for a few minutes to chalk up our fifth win a row.
The spotlight turns to Eddie and Tuesday's game at DC. I'm sure all Glenmen will wish Eddie and his assistants well in their journey to put the Glens where they should be - back on top. COYG.
